The task was to upgrade 12 Ubuntu Servers from version 18.04 LTS to 24.04 LTS. During the upgrade, two of the servers experienced boot failures due to broken GRUB. I had to repair the bootloader manually and created a step-by-step guide for future reference.

Today, I saw the vacancy, and I knew I had to take action. Sure, I’ll start small — but when has that ever stopped me? Life once tore out my roots, and I had to leave much behind. But I kept the seeds. New roots will grow stronger. And I’ll make it happen!

Many years ago, I deployed the company`s Help Desk System based on OTRS 5 and it was a great experience, and now I plan to move on GLPI. It`s open source as well but it has more options.
I`ve deployed a new one for the test and I like it. I think in a month I`ll make a production server.

Last week I said goodbye to a Kerio Mail server which was working on Windows system for years. I deployed a new open source email server iRedMail, of course it has some limitations, but I spent some time and figured out, how to handle with them by manipulating with a SQL database. That is a good solution for SMB and Home offices who don’t trust clouds solutions anymore.

New topics, “Creating a LUKS-encrypted disk with auto-mounting (key file)” and “LUKS Cheat Sheet”, have been completed.

A new article about using LUKS-based encryption. There is something to fix, but that’s when there’s time. Two servers are already in production.

I have a new tool from the nestbox project I deployed at the end of last week; I needed IPAM. I got tired of keeping a spreadsheet, and there are such possibilities …
On the third day, while I like everything, we will probably move to this platform.

The first post is from 2025. In January, I deployed two Wire Guard VPN servers, wrote several management and automation scripts, and distributed some of the addresses to friends who have long had problems accessing, using, and liking various services. I wanted to clean the code from confidential technical information today and publish the script code, but no luck; I got into a car accident today. At the intersection, another car flew into my car from behind. No one was injured, but we will fix the iron and plastic. I liked the man’s behaviour. He avoided unnecessary words and emotions, keeping our composure. We exchanged contacts, and everything went well without unnecessary fuss. However, I had to get out my laptop to download the insurance. I should print it out and put it in the car.
That‘s how I went to a meeting today, and there’s a lot of work in the evening; something needs to be done with insurance; I have zero experience in this.

A few days ago, I deployed the Samba Server. I had to remember many things. I made some notes for the future.

Well, the theory of the CCNA course is over, and the last squeeze of lectures is here; there’s nothing special, just theory. Further branch development will occur while working with the Cisco equipment.
